Food/Hunger Justice
Series: The Bible & Social Justice
Food insecurity remains a persistent crisis in the Black community, driven by systemic poverty, racial
inequities, and limited access to healthy food. This impactful presentation opens with prayer and sheds light
on how hunger disproportionately affects Black households, 24% faced food insecurity in 2020 alone. From
supermarket closures and under-resourced bodegas to the legacy of food deserts, the message explores
how historical and structural injustices continue to shape daily realities. Grounded in Scripture and the
example of Jesus feeding the 5,000, it challenges Christians to respond with compassion, advocacy, and
action. A timely reminder that addressing hunger is a core expression of faith and justice.
